BLE-Linker for Windows – use your laser meter as a keyboard.

On Windows, BLE-Linker listens to your Bluetooth laser distance meter and “types” each distance into the field that currently has the keyboard focus. Excel, estimation sheets, CAD dialogs, browser forms – if it accepts text, BLE-Linker can send a distance to it.

Distances only – you keep full control of formulas
Excel-friendly, but not limited to Excel
Supports selected Leica, Hilti and Bosch meters*
Simple workflow
Start the linker, scan, select your device, connect, go where you want the number, measure. No manual transcription from the screen of the laser meter.
You control the result
BLE-Linker never invents area or volume values. It forwards the raw distances only, and you use your own formulas and logic in Excel or your applications.

How it works on Windows

From device selection to first measurement

  1. Start BLE-Linker. The application loads and prepares the Bluetooth stack.
  2. Scan for devices. Click the scan button to list nearby compatible BLE laser meters.
  3. Pick your meter. Select your model (for example Leica DISTO D1, Hilti PD-I, Bosch GLM 165 or 400).
  4. Connect. BLE-Linker opens a BLE session and subscribes to distance notifications.
  5. Place the cursor in the right place. Go to Excel, your estimating tool, web form, or CAD dialog, and click into the field where the next distance should appear.
  6. Measure. When you press the measure/sent button on the device, the distance travels over BLE to BLE-Linker, is formatted, and then injected into the focused control as if you had typed it.
  7. Repeat. Each shot becomes one line in your workflow and one entry in the BLE-Linker history.

What BLE-Linker does (and doesn’t do)

  • Receives: distance values sent by the supported laser meters.
  • Does not receive: area, volume or multi-step calculations from the device.
  • Does: apply your unit choice and decimal formatting (comma or dot, number of digits).
  • Does: send the formatted value as plain text to the active Windows control.
  • Does not: modify your Excel formulas or structure – it only fills in values.

You stay in charge of the meaning of each distance: which line, which column, which formula. BLE-Linker only ensures that the values arrive quickly, cleanly, and without retyping errors.

Number formatting and units

Different teams, countries and projects use different conventions. BLE-Linker lets you normalize all incoming distances before they land in Excel or other software.

Decimal separator
  • Choose between dot 12.347 and comma 12,347.
  • Useful when Excel is configured for French/European vs North-American locales.
Number of decimal digits
  • Trim or extend the precision to match your typical use (for example 2 or 3 decimals).
  • Applies the same rule to every value received in the session.
Units
  • Work in m, cm, mm, ft or in, depending on your project.
  • When possible, BLE-Linker converts the device distance to your selected unit.

History and export

While you work, BLE-Linker keeps an internal list of all distances received from the laser meter. This history lives on your machine and can be cleared whenever you start a new job.

  • Recover a distance if you overwrote the wrong Excel cell.
  • Double-check field measurements later in the office.
  • Keep a trace of what was actually sent from the device.

Typical history options

  • Clear the history when you begin a new project.
  • Copy one or more distances to the clipboard.
  • Export the list to a simple text or CSV-style file for archiving.

Exact export formats may evolve, but the principle stays the same: you can take the list of distances with you and reuse it as needed.

System requirements

Component Requirement
Operating system Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit
Bluetooth / BLE Integrated Bluetooth Low Energy or compatible USB BLE adapter
Target applications Excel is recommended, but BLE-Linker works with most software that accepts keyboard text input (spreadsheets, estimating tools, CAD, browsers, internal apps, etc.).
Internet access Not needed during measurement; may be required for license activation or updates.

Next step

When your one-time PIN and download link are ready, you’ll receive an email pointing you to the protected download page. From there you’ll be able to download the Windows version and start sending laser distances directly into your tools.
